Miso shiitake soup

Hello my lovely readers!

Wow it has been so long since my last post! Sometimes life just gets in the way and hobbies get pushed to the side. Seeing as it’s winter, I thought I’d share one of my favourite soul-warming soup recipes! This miso shiitake soup is so clean and healthy, filled with quinoa and vegetables. One of the best parts- it asks for minimal ingredients and is ready in 15 minutes. It’s definitely a great post-holiday detox meal!

Lorna Jane Montreal

Happy Monday everyone!

I wanted to update you on a new career path I have taken on recently. As some of you may know, I am a teacher by trade. As much as I love teaching, I have always had a passion for active living and fashion. I came across a brand that was not only a brand but a way of life. This company motivates and empowers women, reminds you that your life is in your hands and you are the one in control. I felt immediately that I had to get involved and help to not only expose people to this brand, but aid in the journey of helping women find their strength and confidence to accomplish whatever it is they dream of.

ALL ABOUT TEA

Happy Friday tea-drinkers!

The cold weather has kicked in and so has the warm comforting drinks! Although I enjoy a specialty mocha or latte from time-to-time, I have never been a coffee drinker, so teas are my go-to. Finding the right tea is like finding the right shoe; it’s all about finding the perfect type for the perfect occasion/mood. It seems like there has been a tea craze going on the past few years with all the flavours and specialty shops out there. By reading up on tea and trying various types and flavours, you can find a few favourites to add to your collection; whether it’s for waking you up in the morning, giving you that burst of energy in the afternoon, to cozy up with at night and curve cravings, or to help soothe an upset stomach or cold.  Continue reading

FALL BOOTS

Hello shoe addicts!

Today I come to you with part 2 of my Fall shoe staples: Boots and booties. As much as I love wearing an open toe shoe, there is something about a boot that adds style and coziness to an outfit. As I like to say, you can never have too many boots- especially black boots!

FALL/WINTER perfumes

Happy Tuesday!

I hope everyone is having a positive start to their week! For all your Fall enthusiasts who want to smell like Fall from a bottle, keep reading…just kidding…well sort of. As mentioned in a previous post, I’ve worked in the cosmetic industry for quite a few years and I’ve had the privilege to experiment with more perfumes than I can ever try to count. Keeping that in mind, I am extremely picky with perfumes as I do not like when they are too overpowering. It’s all about finding the right scent for you, that makes you feel confident and acts as an extension to your personality. It is for this reason that some prefer to have one global scent, whereas others (like myself) prefer to have a few to go back-and-forth between depending on how they are feel that day and what they are doing.

VEGAN PUMPKIN SPICE LATTE

Hello coffee lovers, or non-coffee lovers (like myself),

Fall weekends call for Fall festivities, and Fall festivities call for making pumpkin spice lattes! I have never developed a love or need for coffee, but there’s something about specialty mochas and lattes (Starbucks inspired) in the Fall and Winter that just instantly brighten up my day. I’ve combined a few recipes I found online to create what I believe to be an awesome pumpkin spice latte. So if you don’t feel like making a Starbucks run and want to be adventurous and make your own at home, enjoy!

Fall flats & sneakers

Happy Saturday!

Am I the only one who is saying thank gosh the weekend has arrived?! Here in Montreal, Canada the weather is starting to cool down, leaves are starting to change colours, and it’s time to take out my Fall shoes! Although I love Fall, I’m still a bit in that denial phase that summer has ended and winter is soon on its way, which means I’m slowly transitioning from flats and sneakers to fall boots. Here comes the leathers, suedes, and warm colours!

5 favourite jackets for fall

Hello lovelies,

The weather is definitely getting cooler and that means my favourite season is coming… Fall! I’ve always looked forward to this time of year because it is the perfect temperature, smells fresh and since I was younger, I’ve enjoyed watching the leaves change beautiful colours. I’m not sure whether I love fall fashion because I love the season, or vice versa, but fall fashion has always been where I invest most of my shopping budget.

30 minute booty burn

Happy Wednesday!

I workout 5 or 6 days on 7, with a variety of cardio, HIIT, toning, yoga and aerobic/dance exercises. Today I woke up feeling like a leg day, so I decided to make up my own circuit to kick my own butt…and boy did I! I seriously cannot remember the last time I sweat this much (I had to go and take my asthma pump afterwards!)

Overnight chia oats

Happy 4th of July to all my American followers!

I wanted to share one of my favourite breakfast or snack recipes because it is super easy to make and great for those of you who are busy and trying to keep a healthy lifestyle (so.. Pretty much all of us 🙂 ).  If you’ve never ventured in to the world of overnight oats, you prepare the jar in the morning and your breakfast is all ready for you when you wake up in the morning and are rushing out the door. There are so many variations to overnight oats, even within my recipe. However, I can confidently say that I feel as though I have mastered my oats. They come out sweet (without any added sugar), flavourful and with the perfect ratio of liquid to oats. If you prefer your oats more saturated, you can always add more milk.
